Ed Raines

WRHS Principal

Originally from Baltimore, MD, Mr. Raines came to Kansas in the late 1970's with his parents.  His father was in the Army.  After graduating from Clay Center Community High School, Mr. Raines attended Washburn University and Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education.  He started his teaching career in Concordia, KS where he served as the Director of Choral Activities at Concordia Jr./Sr. High School from 1994 to 1998.  During this time, he earned a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Kansas State University.  In 1998 he became Assistant Principal at the school and, in 2000, was elevated to the Principalship. In 2002, he was offered the principalship of a much larger school in Fort Morgan, CO which he served until coming to Washburn Rural High School.    Mr. Raines and his wife, Carmen, have two children, Cambria and Jace, who are 6 years and 9 months old respectively.
