Start of Class

*Students will be in their assigned seats and ready for class when the tardy bells rings. If this

 becomes a problem it will be counted as a tardy.

 

Asking Questions

*I encourage you to ask questions.   There are no stupid questions in my classroom.

*Be courteous to your classmates listen to their questions,  you may need to know the same

 information.

 

Assignments

*All assignments will be due at the start of the next class period, unless otherwise stated.

 

Late Assignments

*Late assignments will be excepted for half credit in the grade book on or before the scheduled

 test date.  However excepted late work will count in full towards percent completed for test

 retake consideration.

*Late assignments due to illness or excused absence will be taken until the end of the chapter

 for full credit.

*When you are absent you are responsible for getting the assignment and any missed notes.

 

School Related Absences

*If you are going to be gone for a school related absence the homework due the day of the 

 absence is due before you leave.

*You are responsible for getting the missed notes and assignment that will be due the day you

 return.

 

Turning in assignments

 *Write your name, the class period, page and section number at the  top of the page.

            Ex.       John Doe    Hr. 2

                   p. 22  L.1.3

                  

Grading Assignments

*You will be given the opportunity to check your answers at the beginning of the

 class period.  It is your responsibility for grading and correcting your work.

*Each daily work assignment is worth 10 points, graded most days on completion.  If I see a  

 need I may choose to grade some assignments on accuracy.

             

Notebook

*You will be required to keep a notebook.

 

Quizzes

*You may not retake quizzes.

*You will be allowed to use your notebook when taking most quizzes,  therefore it will be

  important to take good notes.

 

 

 

Tests

*Tests will be given at the end of each chapter.

* If you miss the day before a test you must take the test as scheduled.

* If you miss the day of a test you will take the test the day you return and will be responsible

  for the material covered in class that day.

* If you take a make-up test in the Math IMC it must be completed in one sitting.  Do not start

  a test unless you have time to finish it.

* As  the math department policy states only students scoring below 75% on a chapter test

  may be given an opportunity to retake the test.

  Then  you must complete the following guidelines.

            A.        A maximum of 2 retake tests will be given for each student.

            B.        The student must complete a qualifier to the teachers satisfaction.       

            C.        The student must schedule a retake date within (5) school days of the return of

                        the first test.

            D.        The retest must be taken within ten (10) school days of the return of the first test.

            E.        The final grade =

 

Grading Scale

* The follow grading scale will be used:

                        A  =  90 – 100%

                        B  =  80 – 89%

                        C  =  70 –79%

                        Incomplete  or  NC  =  below 70%

 

Weighted Grades

*Semester grades will be weighted in the following manner

                        Test and Quizzes                     =  80%

                        Homework                                =  20%

 

If  You Need Materials

*Students are expected to bring their books, pencils, paper and calculator to class each day.

*If you need a pencil or paper, quietly ask to borrow from a student near you.  I will also have

  pencils available for you to purchase for 5 cents each.

*If you can not borrow materials from a neighbor, ask  to borrow from me before class begins

*If you need to borrow a calculator from me, I must have an ID in return.  If you do

 not have your student ID,  I will except your drivers license (I must have something with your

 name on it.)

*You will also need to cover your textbook with one of the stretchy book covers or something equally as good.  You are being checked out a new book this year and will be expected to take very good care of it.  At the end of the year you will be held responcible for any excessive damage done to the book.

 

Passes

*Students will not be allowed to leave the room  for any reason without permission.

*No passes will be written the first 10 minutes of the period.

*No passes will be written the last 10 minutes of the period.

*Students need to sign out, including destination, and sign in when they return on the red pass.

 

Tardy Policy

As in Student Handbook.

 

 

 

What to do when you have completed your daily work before the end of the class period?

*Check your work.

*Do additional problems in the back of the book.

*Review and rewrite your notes.

*Read the next section in the math book.

*Read a book.

*Work on class work for other classes.

 

Tornado and Fire Alarms

*The students will leave the room in single file.

*Walk quickly and quietly.

*For a fire alarm exit the building through the north doors and listen for further instruction.

 Please stay together as a class.

*For a tornado alarm proceed to the hallway east of the Language Arts IMC and listen for

 further instruction.  Please stay together as a class.

 

When you need Help

* I  will be available for help before school at 7:30 and /or after school until 3:30.   Periodically I

will have meetings before or after school that I need to attend.

 Please make an appointment.

* You may also request for a national honor student tutor.  I would be happy to help you with

  this procedure

 

*****Please use the Instructional Media Center (Math IMC), Room 149.  It is available

      Hours 1 –  7 when you need extra help or a quiet place to work.  I am on duty in the Math

      IMC during 4th hour*****

 

I want to treat all students fairly.  If you feel that you have been mistreated, please see me after class so that we may discuss your concern.

 

COURSE OUTCOMES
