Monday, May 12: Spanish 1 

1. Finish showing "Man of La Mancha".  (Start at where don Quixote dies).

 

2.  Discuss "Man of La Mancha"

--Discuss the themes of the story.  Be able to explain these quotes (Discuss each with a partner, then as a group.)

A.  I come in a world of iron to make a world of gold.”

B. “In last year’s nests there are no birds this season.”

Thursday, May 10: Spanish 1 (continued):

C.   “…don Quixote isn’t dead!  Believe Sancho!”

--Be able to explain what don Quixote’s Quest was....(List aspects of the quest.)

--Be able to describe which Cervantes thought was better—idealism or realism?  Why?  (Discuss with a partner, then as a group.)

--Be able to describe and explain which is better to you idealism or realism?  Why? (Discuss with a partner, then as a group.)

 

2.  Review what will be on the final exam--Tell students that the final will include a Chapter 12 test.

 

3.  Using the WS: Spanish Revistas--Complete Practice Final in class.

 

4.  Correct and discuss WS: Spanish Revistas--discuss why answers are what they are.

 

Tuesday, May 13: Spanish 1

1.  Review the vocabulary of the Reflexive Verbs by reviewing Activities 1, 2, 3, 4 pp. 376-377 (orally--large group).

 

2.  Review the forms and meanings of the reflexive verbs--using flashcards on the document camera.  Act out each verb.

 

3.  Using the WS: Reflexive Verbs from last week, review the formation of the reflexive verbs--and the fact that all reflexive verbs will have the verb form and the reflexive pronoun.

 

4.  Quiz: Reflexive verbs--Forms and Meanings.  Complete in class.

 

5.  Trade and grade quizzes.  Each portion of the verb counts one point.

 

Wednesday, May 14:  Spanish 1

1.  Review the forms of the reflexive verbs--Make sure that all students grasp this concept!

 

2.  Introduce Chapter 12 B Vocabulary on pp. 378-379. (Listen and repeat).  Then, gloss on WS: 12 Vocabulary.

 

3.  Complete Activities 6, 7, 8, 9 pp. 380-381--orally with partner, then as large group.

 

4.  In workbook, complete pp. 151-152. On workbook p. 153--Complete B, C.  Review WB p. 154 D, E.

 

5.  As a large group, discuss and complete workbook p. 155 F.  Does the sentence need a pronoun or not?

 

Thursday, May 15: Spanish 1:

1.  Review vocabulary pp. 378-379 by reviewing Activities 6, 7, 8, 9 pp. 380-381--orally, large group.

 

2.  Review workbook pp. 151--155--discuss and troubleshoot.

3.  Review the forms of the stem-changing reflexive verbs on p. 386.  Review the meaning of the reflexive pronoun.  What does adding the pronoun do for the verb?

 

4.  Complete Activities 18, 19, 20, 21 pp. 386-387--orally, with partner--then as a large group.

 

5.  Read "Conexiones: Las ciencias naturales" pp. 394-395.  (Read and interpret meaning for each paragraph.)

 

6.  Complete "Después de leer" A, B p. 395.

 

Friday, May 16: Spanish 1

1.  Review "Conexiones: Las ciencias naturales" pp. 394-395.  (Call on students to read.)

 

2.  Review "Después de leer" A, B p. 395.

 

3.  Review the concept of reflexive verbs--How does adding the pronoun change the meaning of the verb?

 

4.  Complete WS: Estructuras--Los Verbos Reflexivos--Orally, with a partner.

 

5.  Complete Chapter 12 Mindjogger--Give students time to complete to see which ones they know, then correct and discuss so that they know what to study.
