C.        Naming Branched Alkanes

                        1.         Name and Formula of Radical

                                    Methyl             CH3

                                    Ethyl               C2H5

                                    Propyl              C3H7

                                    Butyl               C4H9

                                    Pentyl              C5H11

                        2.         Rules for Naming

                                    a.         Find longest chain, name

                                    b.         Name Radicals off the main chain

                                    c.         To name radicals use location and radical name in front of longest chain name

                                    d.         Name radicals in alphabetical order

                                    e.         If there is more than one radical, add the prefix (di, tri, tetra and so on)

                                    f.          RADICALS NEED THE LOWEST POSSIBLE NUMBERS OFF THE MAIN CHAIN

                        3.         Write the formula for each of the following
