Homework and Lab Notebook

You will be required to keep an ORGANIZED notebook.  The notebook should be at least a 2 subject.  All homework and labs will be kept in this notebook.  It will be checked at the end of each unit.  Grading will be based on content, organization, and table of contents.  The instructions will be more in detail when we do our first lab and/or homework assignment. Some students use a 3 subject and keep their notes in the last section.

Assignments

No late work will be accepted without teacher approval.  Test retakes may be taken with the correction of test.  Retakes need to be taken within 5 school days.  Please make arrangements with me outside of class time.  The tests will be averaged together to make up your final test score.

Attendance and Make-up Work

Attendance is required!  Missed school day will make your mastery of Chemistry more difficult.  YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SEEING ME OUTSIDE OF CLASS FOR MAKE-UP WORK.  I AM NOT GOING TO COME FIND YOU!  You will be allowed two days for every day you are absent to make up work with out penalty.  If you missed a previously announced test or quiz, you will be required to make it up when you return, regardless of how many days you missed.  Missed labs may be made up during scheduled times only.  See me for the scheduled lab make-up times.

Internet

The internet is a very good tool for you to use.  Under my name at Messages From Staff, I have the weekly plans for Chemistry.  On these pages, you will find plans for the week (updated on Friday for the following week).  You may also find worksheets, homework assignments, rubrics, notes, or answer sheets.

Closing Notes

This school year promises to be full of learning and fun!  For both to occur, you will need to follow the few rules that have been implemented.  I am very eager to see all of you succeed.  If you need extra help, I am available before school and 7th hour.  If you need extra help, please feel free to come and get it.  I can also be reached by phone at school (339-4167) or by email (grifftar@usd437.net).
