· Nursing Assistant- The Nursing Assistant program prepares individuals over 16 years of age as entry level members of the health team who assist the trained nurse in the provision of general patient care. This course meets state guidelines for the Kansas Nursing Home Aide and the Kansas Home Health Aide certification testing as administered by the State Department of Health and Environment. 132 Hours. 12, Adult. · Practical Nursing- The Practical Nursing program prepares individuals for entry into the health care team as a licensed practical nurse. The course of study includes nursing fundamentals, nutrition, anatomy/physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, obstetrics, pediatrics, medical/surgical, geriatrics, and professional career relations. Individuals who successfully complete the practical nursing program are eligible to take the state examination required for licensing. 1200 Hours. 2nd semester seniors/Adult. · Pre-Nursing- The Pre-Nursing program is designed for students who desire a nursing/medical field of study. The course of study includes an introduction to medical terminology, basic math, anatomy/physiology, study skills, and nursing fundamentals. This course meets state guidelines for the Kansas Nursing Home Aide and the Kansas Home Health Aide certification testing as administered by the State Department of Health and Environment. Prerequisites are a doctor's physical and TB skin test. 270 Hours part-time. 11, 12 (preferred). · Surgical Technology- The Surgical Technologist program provides an opportunity for students to learn basic anatomy and microbiology skills necessary to become a member of the surgical team. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the student may make application to take the national certifying examination. To qualify for enrollment, an individual must be a high school graduate or equivalent and successfully pass the general entrance exam with a 12.9 grade level in reading, a 10.0 level in math, a 9.0 level in language mechanics and satisfactorily complete the Valpar manual dexterity test. A recommendation from an employer (preferably in a health-related field) is required. The student should be one who pays particular attention to details, is well organized, and able to work well in a highly stressful atmosphere. 1200 Hours. Adult. |
