Electronics Technology· Computer Repair- This course instructs students to become competent computer service professionals and prepares them to take the A+ certification exam. The A+ certification is a nationally recognized level of computer and operating systems skills. Technologies cover are microcomputers, displays, storage media, printers and operating systems (DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 9x). This course will also provide the training for students to become Certified Novell Administrators (CNA). Required prerequisites are eleventh (11 th) grade score or better on the entrance exam, high school algebra, and basic keyboarding skills (20 wpm). Access to a PC is highly recommended. 54 Hours part-time. 11, 12, Adult. · Computer Networking- This set of programs will prepare the student to become a Microsoft Certified Professional and Cisco Certified Network Associate. Microsoft NT Workstation and NT Server will be studied. The Cisco training will prepare students to install, configure, and operate simple routed LAN, routed WAN, and switched LAN networks. Required prerequisites are successful completion the Computer Repair course or permission of the instructor. 540 Hours part-time. 12, Adult. · Electronic Technology- The Electronic Technology program provides instruction and skill development to prepare the student for an entry-level position in the high tech fields of electronic service, maintenance, production or engineering. The first 540 hours of the program will include fundamental electronics: serniconductor/optoelectrical devices, and digital electronics theory. The "hands on" learning approach reinforces all classroom theory through lab activities which include fabrication techniques, soldering techniques, and analysis of all devices and circuits. The second phase of the program involves systems repair, which integrates the knowledge of the first 540 hour into a systems approach to troubleshooting high tech electronic systems used in industry, business, entertainment, medicine, and the home. Prerequisite: Algebra. Electronic Technology students must score at the tenth (10th) grade level in mathematics and reading comprehension on the general entrance examination. 1080 Hours part-time. 11, 12, Adult. |
