KAW AREA TECHNICAL SCHOOL
Application Process

Juniors and seniors in good academic standing may apply to one of the programs at Kaw Area Technical School. The application process includes four steps:

1.      Ask for application packet in Guidance Office and sign up to meet with the KATS counselor. His name is Doug Durow, and he is at WRHS every Wednesday from 12:30-3:00.

2.      Give the recommendation form to a teacher who have had you in class and are familiar with your talents and work habits.

3.      Complete the application form and turn it back into the Guidance Office.

4.      After meeting with Mr.  Durow, register to take the entry examination.

5.      Have a parent or guardian call the high school to excuse you to take the KATS entrance exam on one of the scheduled days at KATS.

Be sure that the recommendation forms have been turned in by the teachers and you are excused from WRHS to take the entry exam. If any part of this application process is not complete, you will not be considered for admission into the program. Some programs fill up quickly, so it is to your advantage to get everything in as soon as possible. Meet with your counselor so he/she can check your transcript and make sure you are completing your graduation requirements while attending KATS.
