Parent-Teacher Conferences
Dear Parents:
Washburn Rural High School will hold Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, February 15th, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM, and Thursday, February 16th, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Maps will be available at both the north and south entrances upon your arrival. After signing in, you will be able to pick up your student's grade cards in the Counseling Office prior to visiting with the teachers. Teachers will be available on both of these days. There will be NO conference times on Friday, February 17th.
We plan to follow the same structure as our fall conferences this year. Rather than having you try to find your way around the entire building, we have arranged for all teachers to be on the 1st floor of the building and immediately accessible from the two main hallways on this level. Please see the back of this letter for teacher locations. This change was brought about in an effort to increase attendance at PT conferences which has been around 25% in recent years. I am pleased to report that, partly as a result of the new structure, conference attendance in the fall was 38%.
Because the conferences will be held on a first come basis, for each teacher located in a classroom, you will need to sign in on the schedule sheets outside their room. You may conference with all other staff members once availability permits itself in the Media Center or Gym A. The conferences should be limited to a maximum of 10 minutes each so that you will be able to meet with most of the teachers within a reasonable amount of time. Students are encouraged to attend with you, more important though, is your attendance. You may choose to visit with a few teachers, or all of your student's teachers; that is a decision for you to make. Again, our conferences have been restructured in an effort to help you more easily and efficiently access your child's teachers. We strongly encourage you to attend in support of your child!
