Washburn Rural High School
Unique Global Diploma Program Open To All Topeka Area Students
Washburn Rural High School has been selected as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Candidate School that will offer the opportunity to earn an IB diploma beginning with 2011-2012 freshmen and sophomores. Students from throughout Topeka and the surrounding area who want a challenging and rewarding opportunity can participate.
What is the IB Diploma Programme?
It is an academically challenging and balanced program that meets international standards in education and prepares students for success in college and beyond. Life in the 21st Century, in an interconnected, globalized world, requires critical-thinking skills and a sense of international-mindedness, both of which International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme students learn and understand.
Why should my child enroll?
The IB program is recognized worldwide for its rigorous external assessments and global standards. It emphasizes the development of the whole student - physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.

IB learners strive to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, risk-takers, knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced, and reflective.

This is a challenging program that demands the best from both motivated students and teachers and is proven to provide excellent preparation for college success.

If you have questions or would like more information you can contact WRHS Assistant Principal Kelly Younger at 339-4107 or visit the Diploma Program page on the IB website at http://www.ibo.org/diploma.
